Myco (2024) by Jen Lewin is an immersive sculpture in Doral Pocket Park, Florida, featuring clusters of mushroom-shaped drums made from recycled and upcycled plastic (originating from the 2008 “Pool”). Each cap emits sound and light when touched, enabling collaborative play by day and illuminated interactivity by night. The work evokes symbiotic fungal networks, blending technology, nature, geometry, and sustainability for people of all ages.

Exhibition Details

Myco is an interactive collection of mushroom drums inspired by the interconnected communication of fungi. Installed in Downtown Doral, Florida, the work transforms the park into an illuminated, percussive landscape that explores the symbiotic relationships within fungal networks.

Created from recycled and upcycled plastic sourced from Jen Lewin’s 2008 installation Pool, each Myco cap lights up and resonates in harmony when touched. The sculpture invites participants to play collaboratively, reflecting the organic exchange and interdependence found in nature’s mycorrhizal systems.
