Flow (2019) by Jen Lewin is an interactive light sculpture composed of vertical LED tubes arranged in rows to form a luminous wall. As viewers walk or move nearby, the tubes ripple with shifting colors and patterns, creating the illusion of liquid light. The piece invites contemplative movement and responsive interaction, translating human presence into waves of illumination. Flow is part of Jen Lewin’s “Have Art, Will Travel” exhibition series.

An interactive wave of light and sound that you can compose with your movements

FLOW is the first work that combines Lewin’s FLUX and MAGICAL HARP series—integrating light and sound components into a single sculpture designed for the ‘Iolani School. Composed of twenty-four interactive light tubes, this interactive instrument swirls with light and plays ethereal musical tones when participants move beneath its laser sensors. Triggering a certain tube changes the overall color palette and tonal range of the sculpture, adding elements of surprise and discovery to the artwork.
